Today, Motorola launched the Moto Razr 5G in India. Moto Razr what? Well, the name is the same, the same Rzr that we saw years ago. But the Moto Razr 5G, just like the Moto Razr several months ago, is a phone with a foldable screen. With the Razr 5G, Motorola blended the goodness of the latest technology but retained the design of the iconic Moto Razr V3, which at some point in time was a dream device of many.
Now, when the Motorola Razr with foldable screen launched, a lot of people found the specs and features lacking. The foldable screen was slick and nice but the price was high at Rs 1,50,000 for what the phone offered. With the Moto Razr 5G, the company is hoping to woo the fans a second time.
The Moto Razr 5G comes to India a month after its global launch. In India, the Moto Razr 5G price is Rs 1,24,999. The Moto Razr 5G will be available for purchase at Flipkart on October 12 from 12 pm onwards
Although for now, I have not been able to spend days with the device, I have briefly tried it. And here is how I want to summarise this quick review of the Moto Razr 5G: This is an extremely slick phone and it seems fairly well-behaved but I still have some concerns related to its design.

Moto Razr 5G: The good
The first thing that will impress you about the Moto Razr 5G when you are handed over the box is the box itself. The packaging is superior and looks uber premium. When you spend a little over a lakh on something, you want every bit of device to reek of its price. Motorola has tried to give that feel to the buyers and succeeded at it. The box has a blend of diamond cut transparent glass on top with a premium finish that complements the look completely. On the inside, It has a separate case for the charger that resembles the cases of those posh sunglasses. The Moto Razr 5G is packed and placed securely in the box. So full points to the attractive packing done by Motorola.
Now coming to the design of the phone, Moto Razr 5G brings a lot of newness in terms of design, especially if compared to its predecessor. It has an interesting yet small form factor. However, it may not appease everyone. It could be too small for some while some other users will consider it really handy. I personally have no qualms about its smallish size as it accommodates itself well in my palms.
But my biggest concern is a slight squeaky sound that the hinge under the screen makes while folding and unfolding the phone. It is not as pronounced as what we saw in the foldable Razr earlier this year, but it is there. And that is, well, to put it in terms of user experience, a little killjoy
Now coming to the display, it is rather small and may not be the one for people who are used to larger displays. The apps on the phone seem rather cramped and typing on it is not the most joyful thing either. If you are used to spacious screens and keypads, this is not something you would appreciate.
As far as the battery is concerned, Razr 5G houses a 2800mAh which lasts a day but if you are a rigorous user like me, you might drain it before the day ends. But more on battery in the full review of the Razr 5G.
Moto Razr 5G quick review summary
There is one thing that needs to be said: The Moto Razr 5G is a great piece of technology to own. If you are a tech geek and money is not a constraint, it is not bad having an Android foldable device that is powered by a good chipset, has decent camera specs, and the goodness of a foldable device.
But it is not a practical option. We will explore more of this in the full review, but even now I think given the price and the expectations, most consumers will be better served by a regular phone like the iPhone 11 Pro, or something more affordable like the OnePlus 8 Pro.
